Sharing a story is a great way to give the interview some depth of a particular skill you may have. Instead of just saying I can do “X”, prepare a story that incorporates the skill you are highlighting.

Work on 2 – 3 monologue style stories. They should be thorough but short and to the point. They should show that you can solve problems, multi-task and work well with others.

The Mayo Clinic recommends the SHARE method:

    S – Describe a specific Situation

H – Identify Hinderances or challenges

A – Detail the Action you took

R – Discuss the Results or outcomes

E – Evaluate and summarize what you learned

What are some tips that have helped you land your job? Please share your great ideas with us.

I always ask candidates to tell me a story about a patient that impacted them. The story tells me so much about how the candidate thinks.
